  WHAT HAPPENED?

  Kane left Tottenham Hotspur last summer calling it time on his association with the club after almost 20 years having joined the North London side's youth system in 2004. The striker broke into Spurs' first team in 2014 and became an icon of the Premier League. Kane joined Bayern Munich last summer for a reported fee of €100 million (£86m/$110m) as the Premier League's second top-scorer of all time.

  Kane was visibly emotional as he returned to play against Tottenham on Saturday evening in a pre-season friendly and was spotted being close to tears when the club anthem played in the background ahead of kick-off. However, Vincent Kompany chose not to give the 31-year-old the chance to play against Ange Postecoglou's side as Der Rekordmeister won 3-2.

• WHAT NEXT FOR KANE?

  With Kane having led England to the Euro final less than a month ago, it is understandable that Kompany did not allow Kane to return to the field against his former side. However, fans will definitely be disappointed in the lost opportunity to see their favourite play at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium yet again.
